DR. CHUKUKA S. ENWEMEKA

 

DR. CHUKUKA S. ENWEMEKA, Dean, School of Allied Health and Life Sciences New York Institute of Technology. He came to NYIT from the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he served as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences from March 1993 to February 2003. He received his B.S. and M.S. in physical therapy from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria and the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, respectively. Dr. Enwemeka earned his PhD in pathokinesiology from New York University (NYU), and undertook his post-doctoral research training at NYU’s Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr. Enwemeka has more than 50 peer reviewed research papers, book, and book chapters to his credit, and over 200 abstracts/presentations at national and international conferences.Dr. Enwemeka served as board member and chairperson of the NIH National Advisory Council on Medical Rehabilitation Research from 1998 to 2002 and as an elected President of the World Association for Laser Therapy from 1998 to 2000. He is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Photomedicine and Laser Surgery PMLS, the Official Journal of the World Association for Laser Therapy WALT and The North American for Laser Therapy NAALT, a Board Certified physical therapist, and a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine. Moreover, he is the founder of the North American Association for Laser Therapy, an organization he continues to serve as chairperson. Dr. Enwemeka’s academic career has taken him to twenty-eight countries on five continents, either as a visiting professor, invited presenter, keynote speaker, visiting scholar, or as an invited guest of other universities.
